Drawing with Steel - Isaac Neame

October 2011

Sculpting with steel for the last four years, Isaac Neame’s focus has been in explorations of plane and curve to produce form. Rolling, folding, bending and cutting are all verbs that describe the way in which his works become art objects that begin as flat steel sheet. Line, tension, gravity, opening, and closing are just some of the thought processes that go into the making of his work.
Adhering to self set parameters, 300 x 600 mm or 1200 x 2400mm sheet size only and subjecting each piece to simple manipulations, he transforms each plate into a spatial three dimensional object. Using a repetitive format with multiple outcomes, the works become drawings in steel.

(The large work can be set into a concrete foundation to secure it and the foundation can be below ground level so that the lines of the sculpture remain clean.
Several of the smaller sculptures in the exhibition could be made on a large scale on a commission basis, and either sealed against the elements with a coating, or fabricated from a type of steel that leaves a rust finish then does not continue to weather.
Installation costs to be quoted.)
